Terms of Use

By accessing the BUDOVA website or using any BUDOVA resources, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use our resources. Contributing to the corpus also requires the separate Contributor Consent.

These Terms are published in Ukrainian and in English with the same content. If the two versions differ, the Ukrainian version prevails.

BUDOVA (Building Ukrainian Domain-Specific, Open Voice & Text Archives) is a research project by KNUCA AI Lab at Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, funded through the LINGUA Open Call by Microsoft AI for Good Lab under the EU Digital Unlock program.

You may use our website for informational and research purposes. You agree not to:

• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the website or its systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the website’s operation, or get around its rate limits
• Collect content automatically beyond what the published datasets and the public API offer, or at a pace that burdens the service
• Misrepresent your affiliation with the BUDOVA project

Automated download of the published open data, and use of the public API within its limits, are welcome.

BUDOVA datasets are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence. No dataset has been released publicly yet; these terms apply from the first release. You are free to:

• Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
• Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial use

Under the following terms:

• Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the licence, and indicate if changes were made
• No additional restrictions — You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that restrict others from doing anything the licence permits

Personal data in the speech data. The recordings are personal data of speakers who consented to their open release for speech research. CC BY 4.0 does not license privacy or personality rights (Section 2(b)(1) of the licence): you need your own legal basis to process the recordings. Identifying speakers, building speaker-recognition systems or imitating a speaker’s voice falls outside what the speakers agreed to, and the licence does not give you their privacy rights to do so. To report a problem with a recording, write to dolhopolov_sy@knuba.edu.ua.

Roadmap: baseline models trained on the corpus are planned for release under the Apache License 2.0, which would allow use, modification and distribution, including commercial use. No model has been released yet; when one is, its licence will be stated with it.

Roadmap: the project’s code, processing pipelines and utilities are planned for release under the MIT License in a curated public repository. The code is not public yet; when the repository is published, its licence will be stated there.

When using BUDOVA resources in research or publications, please cite the project using the citation provided on our website. Proper attribution supports the sustainability of open research projects.

• Annotations, transcripts and recordings made in the project — released under CC BY 4.0 from the first public release; contributors grant this licence through the Contributor Consent
• Source texts — Ukrainian state building norms (ДБН) are normative acts that the state publishes on e-construction.gov.ua; they are not KNUCA’s work, and each text is shown with the code it comes from. Texts from other sources keep their own terms
• Models — Roadmap: Apache 2.0, when released
• Code — Roadmap: MIT, when a public repository is published
• BUDOVA name and branding — © KNUCA. Use of the BUDOVA name in derivative works must clearly indicate the nature of the derivative

BUDOVA resources are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that datasets are error-free, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. Use of BUDOVA resources is at your own risk.

To the maximum extent permitted by the laws of Ukraine, KNUCA and the BUDOVA project team shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use of or inability to use BUDOVA resources.

These Terms of Use are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in the courts of the city of Kyiv, Ukraine.

We may modify these Terms of Use at any time. Changes become effective when they are posted on this website with a new effective date. Continued use of BUDOVA resources after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. A change to what contributors agreed to takes a new version of the Contributor Consent, which the app asks contributors to sign before they continue.
